Janis Darlene O’Malley died peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2015 surrounded by her family in her home in Grand Junction, Colorado. Janis was born to the late Roy Skiles and Elinor Bacoccini Skiles on August 8, 1944 in Placerville, California. She spent most of her life in Placerville, California graduating from El Dorado High School in 1962. Janis married Ron Warner in 1964 and had a daughter before Ron’s death in the El Dorado Limestone mining accident in 1971.
While also raising three wonderful daughters, Janis had a career with the Federal Government working for the El Dorado National Forest (where she met and married James O’Malley) and Social Security Administration retiring in 1984 after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She went on to build a career as a top sales person in the Avon organization. She retired from Avon sales in 1994. Late in life Janis enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy and late night shopping sprees on eBay and Amazon. In 2008, Janis and her family relocated to the Grand Junction, Colorado area to enjoy retirement.
Janis is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, James O’Malley, her daughters, Wendy Marks, Kelly O’Malley-Williams, and Kathryn Myers, her son-n-laws, David Marks, Todd Williams and Nathan Myers, her grandchildren, Brandon Marks, Cameron Marks, William Myers, Jacob Williams, Gavin Myers, and Alex Williams. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Janis was proceeded in death by her parents Roy and Elinor Skiles and her grandson Christopher Michael Marks.
