Janice M. Waldera, 68, of Algona, died on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Janice May Patterson, the daughter of Verl and Vivian Louise (Huntley) Patterson, was born on November 10, 1947, in Algona, Iowa. She graduated from Algona High School in 1965. On December 31, 1965, Janice was united in marriage to Ronald Waldera. They resided in Algona where they raised their two children. Jan worked at Snap-On Tools where she was employed for over 30 years.

After retiring from Snap-On Tools, Jan fulfilled her life-long dream of working in the nursing field and returned to college to become a CNA and worked at Kossuth Regional Health Center for 5 years before retiring again. Janice always focused her life on helping others by going out of her way to make everyone a better person. She also enjoyed ceramics and working in her award-winning yard. She loved shooting pool and following the Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball teams as well as the Green Bay Packers. She was well known for her famous mini sugar cookies that were shared with her family and friends. Most of all, Janice loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.

Left to cherish Janice’s memory are her children, Robert Waldera and his fiancé Tami Hankins of LuVerne and Deb Kenne and her husband Tom of Algona; her dear friend Ron Waldera of Whittemore; four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alex and Nicole Kenne and Ashlyn Waldera; two sisters, Alice Weil of Arizona and Jean Brostrom of Minnesota; and two brothers, Wayne Patterson of Whittemore and Don Patterson of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Edward Patterson.
