Biography
Janice Louise (Heintzelman) O’Pezio. 80, of Suntree in Melbourne, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, July 28, 2016.
Jan was born in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, the second daughter of Merritt and Thelma (Snyder) Heintzelman. She moved to Connecticut with her family at an early age, and resided there until she met, and later married Lawrence (Larry) O’Pezio, in 1956. The next 23 years were spent moving around the country with her husband, who was a commissioned officer in the US Coast Guard. Despite the travels, she and Larry happily raised two sons, Michael, who lives in Chesapeake, Virginia, and Thomas, who lives in Mattapoisett, MA. After Larry’s retirement from the Coast Guard, they moved to Suntree in Florida, where they have resided ever since.
Jan, an avid mah-jongg player, has been active in the South Guild of the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, a cause dear to her heart.
In addition to her husband and her sons, she is survived by four granddaughters, Heather, Danielle, Elizabeth and Caroline.
