Janice Mae Mager, 76 of Caldwell, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010.

After moving to the Big Bend area in Oregon, Jan graduated from Adrian Union High School in 1952.

Jan began her nursing career in Nyssa shortly after graduating from St. Alphonsus Nursing School. She continued to pursue her education over the years while nursing in Montana, Coeur d’ Alene and Caldwell where she retired in 1994. Even though Jan had retired, she couldn’t give up nursing. She became the ‘go to’ person for many with medical issues as she was so highly respected in her profession. Through her loving nature and love of God, Jan became a caregiver for many of her friends and family.

Jan married Dwayne K. Rogstad in October of 1955. They had four daughters, Martina, Ella, Coradee and Tammie. They divorced and Janice later married Delbert L. Mager in September of 1966.

Jan’s greatest joy was being with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and many other outdoor activities. She took delight in volunteering as Camp Nurse for her grandchildren’s school field trips. She greatly enjoyed doing charity work for the Eagles Auxiliary where she held many positions and developed many lasting friendships.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Gertye Jones and her husband, Del Mager.

Jan is survived by her daughters, Martina Hesher of Bremerton, WA, Ella (Greg) Whitsitt of Caldwell, Coradee Mager of Caldwell and Tammie Ridder of Boise; her grandchildren, Kale and Tonia Hesher, Bill, Joe, Wendee and Aaron Whitsitt and Myah Ridder; brothers, Merlyn (Lorene) Jones of WA and Guy (Thelma) Jones of OR; sister, Mary Ellen Hopkins of OR; and numerous nieces and nephews. Janice will be deeply missed by all of us.
