Janice Kay (Gibbs) Henry, the daughter of Dorotha (Buster) and Henry Gibbs was born October 3, 1937 near Esbon, Kansas. She departed this life on January 15, 2018 while staying at Heritage of Red Cloud in Red Cloud, Nebraska under their Hospice Program.
The second of three daughters, Janice lived on a farm in Jewel County, attended various country one-room country schools until she graduated from Esbon High School in 1955. She attended secretarial school in Denver, CO and met her future husband, Haywood Tallon Henry who was serving in the Air Force at Lowry Air Force Base. On October 6, 1956 they were united in marriage. They eventually moved to North Carolina and settled in Archdale for 38 years. Janice worked as a Bookkeeper and Office Manager, as well as providing love, structure and a safe home for their three children along with extended stays by Haywood’s nephews.
On March 31, 2002 Haywood preceded her in death. Janice was a member of Union Chapel church while growing up, and then was a member of Springfield Friends Meeting in High Point, NC. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Red Cloud when she moved to Red Cloud in 2005.
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death. Those that will miss her are her children, Robert Henry of Laguna Woods, CA, Joyce Summers of Red Cloud, NE and Karen Henry of Roswell, GA; her sisters, Marilyn Pritts of Red Cloud, NE and Helen Jennings of Goodview, VA; grandchildren Anthony Hensley of Archdale, NC and Kate Henry of Garden Grove, CA; Robert’s spouse, Rona Smyth Henry; Kate’s fiancé, Matthew Daniels; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and the many friends that she treasured.
