Janice Elaine Orosz was born on February 10, 1938 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. On October 12, 2019, she passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. Jan was the daughter of Harold and Esther (Woodhams) Forslund who have preceded her in death.
Jan attended Kalamazoo Central High School, where she met her devoted husband, Ron Orosz in the milk line during lunch. After high school, she attended Western Michigan University where she studied art. On June 28, 1958, Jan married her high school sweetheart, Ron Orosz, who was in the military at that time. Soon after the wedding, they moved to Germany where Ron continued to serve in the Army Security Agency. On March 13, 1959, the two celebrated the birth of their first child Rick Orosz. Later that year, their family of 3 moved back to Michigan where they bought their home in Portage. Jan got a job at the Upjohn Company as a Secretary to a Vice President. On November 27, 1962 they had their second child, Tim Orosz.
In 1966 Jan started what would turn out to be a 30-year career with Kalamazoo Savings & Loan. She was an avid artist and had sold her paintings all over the United States at different art shows. Besides spending time with Ron and family, traveling in their motor home and sewing were some of Jan’s true loves. In 1958 she made her own wedding dress and she continued to sew outfits for her kids and grandkids.
Jan’s surviving relatives include: her husband Ron Orosz of 61 years; sister, RuthAnn (Corky) Lueck; and brother, Tom Forslund. She is also survived by her sons: Rick (Bonnie) Orosz and Tim (Debbie) Orosz; grandchildren: Cassidy (Les) Horne, Cortney Orosz and Kyle Vaughn, Heather Williams and Kevin (Amanda) Orosz; as well as 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
