Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend Janice Cottam passed from this earth on August 29, 2022, into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and a joyful reunion with her eternal sweetheart, Lyle Cottam.
Janice was born June 8, 1929, in Brigham City, Utah, the daughter of Seymour B. Jones and Uarda Ipsen. She married the love of her life Lyle Cottam on August 30, 1947, in Ely, Nevada. The marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple. Lyle passed away on October 14, 1999. She married Judge Ronald O. Hyde on May 3, 2003.
Janice was reared and educated in Brigham City, graduating from Box Elder High School. While in high school she formed great friendships with her classmates, many of which she was very fortunate to maintain throughout her life. She was a very talented seamstress and an avid bridge player. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending her winters in Scottsdale, Arizona. She also enjoyed golfing with her husband as well as participating in the women’s league at the Ogden Golf and Country Club. Janice also dedicated many hours of service at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. She was a member of Ogden’s Malan’s Peak LDS Ward.
She is survived by one daughter and one son: Vicki (Robert) Jones, Gilbert, AZ, and Michael L. (Susan) Cottam, Ogden; three grandchildren: Natalie, Blake, Jaclyn, and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her first husband: Lyle Cottam; two children: Teri Lyn and Randall Lyle; her grandson: Kyle Scott Cottam; one brother: Drex Jones; and her second husband: Ronald Hyde.
The family would like to express thanks to the love and kindness of Ronald Hyde’s family; they have always been generous and loving, making her feel part of their family. We also appreciate the loving care provided by so many individuals throughout the past years, especially LaRue Sparrow and McKenna Somerville. The family also would like to thank Community Nursing Services and Home Health and Hospice (especially Deanna the last couple of days).
