Jenice Boykin Biggs, a native of Frankville and a resident of Sweet Water, answered the Master’s call on Oct. 1, 2020 while at Crowne Healthcare Rehabilitation Center in Mobile. Born Sept. 21, 1953, she was the daughter of George Boykin and Virginia McKeller Boykin, who preceded her in death.
Early in life Jenice was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Frankville. Later she united with Mt. Hebron Primitive Baptist Church in Thomaston where she served as a Sunday School teacher, church secretary, and coordinated several other programs. Jenice served as Worthy Matron of Taylor Pride Chapter No. 762 Order of the Eastern Star of Thomaston for 13 years.
Jenice attended Selma, Alabama State and Ohio State Universities. She retired from Linden School System after 32 years of employment. Jenice was kind, loving, intelligent and talkative. She loved and admired her church family, but most of all she adored her family.
Left to cherish her loving memories is her loving, devoted and caring husband of 24 years, Nathaniel Biggs of Sweet Water; children, Willie L. (Yurri) Pond Jr. of Linden, Gregory (Vandolyn) Smith of Birmingham, Sheleta Smith of Uniontown, Nathan E. Irby and Lekesha Irby, both of Demopolis; stepchildren, Jenetta Irby, Monaleto Irby, Chasity Irby, Artheria Irby and Rozeta Irby, all of Demopolis; 15 grandchildren; four sisters, Vernice (Porter) Boman of Frankville, Lou Boykin of Monroeville, Wilhemenia Boykin and Beulah Boykin, both of Montgomery; four brothers, Larry Boykin and George Boykin, both of Frankville, Robert Boykin of Thomasville and Joe (Schafreda) Grimes of Mt. Vernon; god-brother, Billy Merida; special cousin, L.J. Boykin; nieces, Brittney Boykin, Courtlyn Boykin and Deirdre Green; nephews, Jarvis Abston, Larry Boykin, Jr. and Kyle Boykin; five sisters-in-law, Gloria (Rev. Joe) Holcombe, Regina Biggs, Linda Biggs, Sandra James and Carolyn James; two brothers-in-law, Robert Biggs, Jr. and Anthony Biggs; a very special and devoted friend and college mate, Ovetta (Ernest) Jones of Selma; with a host of other relatives and friends.
