Janice Anne McCarthy, age 81, longtime resident of Milford, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Milford Hospital. Born on October 18, 1929 in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Marion Coby Metzler. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Michael McCarthy, a former Milford HS teacher and guidance counselor. Janice was a graduate of Milford High School, and was employed in many different capacities, most notably, she worked for Robert Shaw for many years. She was a talented artist and will be greatly missed as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her son, Brian M. McCarthy of Hartford, two cherished grandchildren, Mary and Katherine McCarthy of Farmington, a brother, Douglas Metzler, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Sean M. M. McCarthy, a brother, Donald Metzler, and a sister, Barbara Gregus.
