Janice Andrews Lindsay, beloved mother of Mary, grandmother of Natalie Joy and Mister Joy, and perfect sister to Judith and Mark, died Sunday, Feb.28, 2010, at home surrounded by those who loved her.
Janice was born in Chicago on Nov. 22, 1928, to Sam and Winifred Hagan Andrews. She grew up in Libertyville, IL, attended Barat College of the Sacred Heart and DePaul University.
She started her career in banking, and then for a while had her own radio show with WKRS in Waukegan. After her daughter was born she stayed home to love and care for her. When she returned to the workforce she spent many years at Allstate Insurance Co. in management and upon retirement went to work for the Music Institute of Chicago. She reluctantly retired from there at her sister’s request to move to Jacksonville in 2001.
Janice was a member of Monday Conversation Club and a local book group. She will be remembered by her family as the one everyone went to for advice. She is survived by her daughter Mary Lindsay, her grandchildren, Natalie and Mister Joy, her sister Judith Beiderbecke and brother Mark (wife, Linda) Andrews of Macomb.
