Janette (Jan) L. Warsaw, 89, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Greenleaf Health Campus, Elkhart.
She was born Feb. 17, 1923, to the late John M. and Florence (Ford) Stewart in Kenosha, Wis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary F. Wagoner and Anna Marie Thrash; three brothers-in-law; son-in-law Ward Wack; and daughter-in-law Margaret “Peggy” Warsaw.
She married John William Warsaw Jr. Oct. 19, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wis. He passed away April 30, 1968.
Surviving are her four children, Janet (Ward) Wack of Henderson, Nev., John (Marsha) Warsaw of Bristol, James (Jill) Warsaw of Wausau, Wis. and Jerald (Irene) Warsaw of Elgin, Ill; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard (Ruth) Stewart of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and Terrance (Therese) Stewart of Madison, Wis.; and her sister Elizabeth Sommerfelt of Janesville, Wis.
Jan, as she was known to her family and friends, lived in several states during her lifetime. She spent the last 28 years living in Elkhart.
She was a manager in the retail business for many years, the last of which was in New Jersey.
While in Elkhart, she was the chairwomen of the Senior Center at the YMCA and a dancer with a troop called The Rockerettes.
She also worked as a home health care aide assisting the elderly with their personal and household needs.
She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She loved music, gardening and was an avid reader.
Jan was extremely talented in sewing, crocheting, knitting and cross stitch. She was an artist and made many beautiful arts and crafts for her family and many others.
