Janet Mottl, 72, of Buchanan passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, August 18, 2011 after an illness. Janet was born in South Bend, IN to Albert and Thelma Marquardt. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Marquardt. In April 1959, she married William Mottl and raised a family in Buchanan.
She is survived by her husband, William; by her children, Paula (Tim) Witherow, Sheila (Chuck) Letcher, Dorothy Mottl (Kevin Barker), Bill Mottl (Mindy Davis), and Gwen Mottl; by her grandchildren, Brandon, Timothy, Michael, Trevor, Lauren, Belinda, Carrie, and Angie Witherow; Rachel and Rebecca Letcher; Aaron and Alexia Forburger; Whitney and Kyler Shearer; Gabrielle Mottl.Janet was a teacher in the Buchanan School System for 33 years before she retired.
Janet served as a coach and mentor for numerous individuals in the community. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
