Janet “Jan” May Moyer Contakes Floen passed away Monday June 12, 2017 at St Luke’s Hospice House. Jan was a life-long resident of the Lehigh Valley. She was the wife of the late Paul Contakes. Born in Coopersburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Estella Moyer. She was one of the first graduates of Southern Lehigh High School.
Many will fondly remember Jan for her kindness, generosity, and sense of fun. A frequent visitor to The Apollo and Zoellner Arts Center, Jan enjoyed a night on the town with friends and family. Jan was an accomplished cook, an avid gardener, an enthusiastic decorator, and a member of many card clubs. She lived in several neighborhoods throughout the region, most recently at Country Meadows where she was known to many for her outgoing and sunny personality.
Survivors: she will be lovingly remembered by her sons Michael and wife Christine Contakes and their daughter Olivia of Williamsburg, VA, Christopher and wife Megan Contakes of Alexandria, VA; sister Gail Greene of Chapel Hill, brother William Moyer of Allentown, and many friends, including life-long friend Patricia Mitchell. She was preceded in death by sisters Elinor Lynch, Jean Nelson, and Doris Homza.
