Janet M. Sutherland, 95, of Latrobe, died August 17, 2022, one month before her 96th birthday. She is survived by her three children, John Kerchner, Jim Kerchner (wife Jan) and Kathy Roeske, as well as five grandchildren, David Kerchner, Ben Kerchner, Lauren Brown, Stephanie O’Farrell, and Jeff Kerchner, and seven great grandchildren. She grew up in Duquesne, PA and attended Carnegie Mellon University. Her first husband, Carl Kerchner, pre-deceased her in 2005. She and her second husband, Gene Sutherland, lived in Latrobe until he died in 1985. After raising her children, Janet used her wonderful sense of design for more than 20 years as an interior decorator at the former Mountain View Interiors in Greensburg. Her other loves were the Steelers (she had season tickets) and singing: in local fundraising shows and as a choir member of First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, PA, where she also served as a deacon. Janet was a “fashionista” whose sense of style was legendary among her family and friends. For several years, she modeled Talbot’s clothing at local businesses. And she always dressed up when she traveled on an airplane. In her later years, she enjoyed attending operas and looked forward to regular meetings with her bridge club friends. Janet was a loving mother and friend and we will all miss her.
