Janet Kaye (Cox) Hopper passed away on October 19, 2022, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Levelland, TX on October 12, 1943, to Creed Edward Cox and Juanice Irene (Peck} Cox. She moved with her family to Hobbs, NM in the early 1950s where she attended elementary, junior high and high school.

She married her high school sweetheart, Connie Eldeane Hopper, in December 1961 and moved with him to Las Cruces, NM in January 1962 when he was accepted into the cooperative education program at New Mexico State University (NMSU) and White Sands Missile Range (WSMR). She finished high school at Las Cruces High in 1962.

They continued living in Las Cruces when her husband accepted a full-time engineering position at WSMR in 1966. They continued living in Las Cruces after her husband retired from WSMR in December of 2002, until October of 2016 when they moved to Albuquerque, NM to be closer to their children.

She was predeceased by her mother and father and is survived by her husband, her two children Dean Michael Hopper (partner, Anthony Cadavas) of Santa Fe, NM, and Terri Lyn (Hopper) Gaussoin (husband, Kristofer Eric Gaussoin) and one grandson, Thomas Edmund Gaussoin all of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by an older sister, Judy Carol (Cox) Fuentes of Amarillo, TX and two younger brothers, Creed Edwin Cox of Belton, TX and Philip Gregory Cox of Lubbock, TX.

She struggled for many years with Lewy Body Dementia but with treatment and medication was able to lead a practically normal life for many of those years and enjoyed traveling with her husband on many vacations, road trips, tours, and cruises. Her kindness, humor, generosity, and spirit live on through her husband, children, grandson, and friends, and she will be sorely missed.
