Janet Jacoby, 79, of Jacksonville, IL, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 19, 1942, in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of Herschel and Doris Witt Cox. She married H. Michael Jacoby on Aug. 15, 1965, in Jerseyville, and he survives.
She is also survived by two sons and one daughter, Derek (Karen) Jacoby of Bartlett, Damon (Jennifer) Jacoby of New Hampshire, and Dana Jacobs of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren, Ashley Jacoby, Lizzie Jacoby, Gracie Jacoby, Hannah Jacoby, Haden Jacoby, Holden Jacoby, and Kiley Jacobs; and two sisters, her twin, Janice Schuckenbrock of Jerseyville (deceased husband, Hank) and Carol (Dan) Kurtz of Edwardsville. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Jacoby was a 1960 graduate of Jerseyville High School and then graduated from Illinois State University in 1964. After raising her family, she taught science at Turner Junior High School in Jacksonville, retiring in 2000.
Janet was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, serving on many church committees. She also served as Past-President of Junior Women’s Club. She enjoyed reading, knitting and cross-stitching. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
