Janet G. Wagner Smith, 69, Anderson, died January 9, 2004, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born December 19, 1934, in Peru, Indiana, and has lived in Anderson for most of her life. She retired from St. John’s Health System following 35 years as a Registered Nurse. She was a 1953 graduate of Noblesville High School and a 1955 graduate of St. Mary’s of the Woods College. She attended both St. Mary’s and St. Ambrose Catholic Churches in Anderson. She was a Past Indiana State Regent for the Daughter’s of the American Revolution; Past President for the Anderson Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution; a member of the Daughter’s of the American Colonists; the Daughter’s of the Union; the Huguenot Society of Indiana; National Rifle Association. She formerly was an active member of the Edgewood Country Club for 40 years and an Anderson Lady Elk. And she was an avid seamstress and won several awards for her sewing. She is survived by her five Sons: Wallace A. and wife Leslie Smith of Anderson; Anthony J. & wife Michelle Smith of Anderson; Gregory E. & wife Penni Smith of Anderson; Philip Bernie Smith of Anderson and Charles W. Smith of Huntingburg, IN. One Daughter: Elizabeth A. & husband Paul Vance of Birdseye, IN. Grandchildren: Paula Vance and husband Terry Prather; Brian Vance; A. J. Smith; Amanda Smith; Josh Kelley; Brody Smith; Anthony M. Smith; Thomas J. Smith; Dalton Turner; Jessica Park; Erica D. Smith; Danielle Smith; Samantha Smith; Madison Smith; Charlianne E. Smith; Emily Smith; Allison Smith and Jordan Smith. One Great Grandson: Ryan Patrick Prather. One Brother: Joseph & wife Sarah Wagner of Grand Rapids, MI. An aunt: Ester Demuth of Peru. An hundreds of extend relatives. She was preceded by her husband of 40 years, Wallace E. Smith, who died on March 28, 1996.
