Janet Frances (Burke) Griffin, 81,of N. Windham, left this world peacefully at home on Saturday Feb. 16, 2002 surrounded by her six children. She was born on April 29, 1920 in Enfield, the daughter of the late Patrick F. and Mary C.(Fleming) Burke. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 35 years, Irving L. Griffin and by her two brothers; Robert and Michael Burke. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Robert and Linda Griffin of Willimantic, her daughter Janet Noel of Marlborough, her daughters and sons in law Judy and Emmett DelGaizo of Colchester, Geraldine and George Williams of Columbia, Jacqueline and Bruce Hice of Willington and Cathleen and the late Paul Paquette of Willimantic, sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Janet received her bachelor’s degree from Rosemont College in Philadelphia, PA. in 1942, the same year she married. After raising her family, she obtained her teaching certificate from Eastern Conn. State University and went on to teach third grade at the Eastford Elementary School for 17 years, retiring in 1981.
