Janet Farley Dean, of Flagstaff, went to be with her Lord on July 16, 2019. She was born in Lockport, NY on August 23, 1929 to Harvey and Evelyn Bowerman. While still in high school, she earned an AA degree in music from Eastman School of Music and after graduation, in 1947, moved with her parents to Arizona. She saw Phoenix grow from a little cow town to a sprawling metropolis and was a cellist in the first Phoenix Symphony Orchestra. Through the course of her life she lived in Lockport NY, Phoenix AZ, Boston MA, Los Angeles CA, Denver CO, Cavecreek AZ and Flagstaff AZ. She loved that she had lived from coast to coast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband. Survivors include her daughter, Misty Dean, granddaughters Jesse Lewis-Gainey, Carly Carlson, Kelsey Dixit, Lindsey Ihrke and Taylor Ihrke, and five great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor, her beautiful smile that she shared so easily and her gracious way of living.
