Janet Carolyn Phares
Janet Carolyn Phares of Greensboro, GA, died on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center at the age of 62. Born in Birmingham, AL she was the daughter of the late William Paul Zipperer and Carolyn Harriett Mathews Zipperer. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Texas State in education. On June 18th 1977 she married Jack Kent Phares in Houston Texas. Janet taught as an elementary school teacher for over 34 years. Her last teaching position was at Greensboro Elementary School. Prior to that she taught at McGarity Elementary in Paulding County, GA and Lafayette, LA. Over the years she has changed many lives and been a positive and loving influence to well over 1000 kids.
In 2001 she and Jack moved to the Liberty Community where she enjoyed life on the farm.
In addition to her husband, Jack Phares of Greensboro, GA, she is survived by a son, Glen Kirk Phares and his wife Kathryn of Winston-Salem, NC; a granddaughter, Natalie Carolyn Phares; three brothers, William Zipperer Jr., Frank Zipperer and Eric Zipperer; other relatives and many, many friends.
Janet is well described in the words from Proverbs 31: 25-26 “ She is a woman of strength and dignity, and has no fear of old age. When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything that she says.”
