HARDING, Janet C. of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Janet Casimeria Harding, age 71, passed away on Monday afternoon, July 8, 2013 in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born October 4, 1941 in Albion, MI a daughter of Harry and Helen Haeske Pietkiewicz.

Janet graduated from Washington Gardner High School in Albion and received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Michigan State University. Besides raising her family, Janet worked for Michigan Department of Social Services, served as an ADC caseworker in Calhoun County and later for several Kalamazoo area banks. Janet was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed serving on the Alter Guild and participating in the Women’s Bible Study and Book Club. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed being a member of the Western Hills Garden Club. Her abilities in the kitchen were amazing.

She was an outstanding cook and baker and will be remembered as making the world’s best cut-out Christmas cookies. As a freshman at MSU she met and fell in love with an upperclassman named Larry R. Harding. On November 30, 1963 Janet and Larry were married in Albion. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Thomas Harding.

Surviving are: her husband of almost 50 years, Larry Harding; three sons, Richard Melissa Harding of Wauconda, IL, William Harding of Dyer, IN and Andrew Harding and his fiancée Erin, from New Brighton, MN; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Michael and Ryenne Harding; a sister, Rose M. Donald Hickey of Albion; two sisters-in-law, Judith Harding-Berger and Carol Harding; and several nieces and nephews.
