Janet C. Dikito (Santiago), 88, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great and great great-grandmother died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Nampa of natural causes.
Jan was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 9, 1923, daughter of the late Captain Gabriel and Remedious Garduque.
I remember that Jan loved the game of chance, she loved playing poker with her kids & family and I think that is how she lived her life. Winning or losing was not important; it was the laughter, the connection and the excitement of the outcome, no matter what that was. Jan was small in stature but not in energy, being an individual or being independent. This is evident by her six children who she raised as a single parent. They all grew to be innovated, motivated and strong-minded people that created abundance, families and their own successes.
Although Jan crocheted throughout her life, she was passionate about her crocheting later in life and made hundreds of beautiful afghans, which she enjoyed donating to hospitals, nursing homes and relatives. Talk to her four surviving children, Jackie, Cha-Cha, Bobbie and Guy; her brother, Sonny; sisters, Betty and Connie; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews–we all have at least two or more.
I imagine that God is smiling now as Jan gives him his first afghan. Rest in love & peace, Mother.
