Janet (Brant) Schmidt passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022, at 88, in Nashville, Tennessee. She once jotted down thoughts about how she’d like to be remembered. When her children discovered her 35-year-old words, they agreed how perfectly Janet had described herself. “I’d like to be remembered as somebody who had been basically kind and deeply concerned for people,” she wrote. Born in 1933 in Oelwein, Iowa, Janet earned a nursing degree in 1955 from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She held several nursing positions, including serving as an RN at Skiff Medical Center and at several private medical practices in Newton, Iowa.
