Janet B. Dodge Green Ray

Janet B. Dodge Green Ray was born May 20, 1927 at Carey, Idaho and died February 26, 2011 with family at her side in Jerome, Idaho. Janet was the 5th child of Oscar LaRaymond and Reuel Bishoff Dodge.

Janet married Charles Edmund Green on September 20, 1944 in Carey where they lived and raised seven children. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1961. Janet worked at the Gateway Cafe in Carey for several years. She was a great cook and, as testified by many, shared her love of cooking continuously throughout her life.

In 1968 they moved to Shoshone Idaho to the “Hill” ranch. Janet became an “Avon Lady”, worked at Hansen’s department store and the Manhatten Cafe. Janet was employed at Tupperware for several years and after her retirement she became an avid tole painter. She and Charlie sold their wares at craft shows and out of their shop at home. Janet spent countless hours watching and cheering on her children and grandchildren at all of their events.

Janet met and married Lee Ray in 1994. Lee and Janet did a lot of traveling in their four years together.

In 2007 Janet built a “brand new home” in Jerome and took great pride in her house. In 2009 Janet became ill and had to have someone live with her. She was fortunate to find Connie who took care of her until 2011 when Janet moved to Creekside Care in Jerome.

Janet is survived by her children Gloria (Ray); Darrel (Jennifer); and Ranae (Brian) of Jerome, Ed (Linda) of Hagerman, Ellen and Laura Lee of Twin Falls; Kent of Shoshone; and Jack Soloaga of Shoshone. 32 grandchildren and 69 great grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by Charlie and Lee, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

The family would like to thank Idaho Home Health and Hospice and the facility at Creekside Care for all the loving attention given to Janet in her final two months.
