Janet Arlene Landolt, 80, of Gilmore City, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospital after a devastating stroke.
Janet is survived by her son David Landolt of Gilmore City, 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 5 sisters. Janet was preceded in death by her father, Jess Walter Martin; mother, Geneva (None) Martin; husband, James Landolt; and son Michael Landolt. Janet Arlene Landolt was born on January 22, 1938, in West Bend, IA. She was raised in Livermore and graduated from Livermore High School. Janet was united in marriage to James E. Landolt on August 29, 1955. They made their home in Gilmore City. Through the years Jim and Janet ran M and D Car Wash and Hogan’s Grocery Store. Janet was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. The family was always very important to her. She loved to bake, make wine, garden, play cards, especially cribbage, and read. She really enjoyed her flowers and bird watching. Janet’s hospitality, generosity, and love were without limits. She was always smiling and had unconditional love for her family and friends. Janet wanted to be remembered with thoughts of laughter and celebration rather than sadness.
