Jane (Thom) Stampfle, 92, cherished mother and grandmother died on February 24, 2008 at Luther Crest, Allentown, PA, where she had made her home since 1984. She was the beloved wife of Robert B. Stampfle for 55 years prior to his death in 1997. Born in Johnstown, PA to Freda (Goebert) and John Thom, she graduated cum laude from Thiel College in 1938. She was a mathematics teacher at Connemaugh Township Area High School prior to moving to Bethlehem in 1944. Jane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem for over 60 years, where she was active in Women’s Circle, and taught Sunday school. She was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Bethlehem branch of A.A.U.W. and a St. Luke’s Hospital volunteer. Jane enjoyed bridge playing, cooking, gardening and her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Farrell and her husband, Charles, of New Harbor, Maine and Molly Troutman and her husband, Alan, of Bethlehem, and six grandsons, Kevin Corrigan of Easton, PA, Chad Farrell of Burlington, VT, Scott Farrell of Somerville, MA, Dr. Douglas Troutman of Philadelphia, PA, Andrew Troutman and Jacob Troutman of Bethlehem and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Stampfle Corrigan.
