Jane P. Alcina passed away peacefully at age 89, on January 10, 2016.  Jane was born and raised in New Britain, CT and attended New Britain High School, graduating in 1944.  She joined the U. S. Navy Nurse Cadet program that same year, and attended the St. Francis School of Nursing, where she made several life-long friends, graduated in 1947, and became a Registered Nurse.  Jane married Edward F. Alcina in 1949, and together they lived in Louisville, KY, Harrisburg, PA, and the suburban Chicago area before retiring “back home” to Farmington.  She was a devoted, loving mother who took great care and interest in the lives of her four children Richard, Jeffery, Nancy (deceased) and David, her grandchildren Daniel, Matthew, Ryan and Stephanie, and her great-granddaughter Abigail.  She worked in several nursing positions over a span of 50 years including a psychiatric hospital, doctors offices, and two nursing homes until she retired at the age of 71.  She and Dad lived many years at Tunxis Village in Farmington, where their neighbors became close friends. More recently her aids Denese, Melissa, Gwen, Marlene, Shakira, and Nicky have assisted with her well-being, and the family extends it’s appreciation.  Mom will be missed greatly, but remembered fondly for her ever present easy going happiness, optimism and love of everyone she came in contact with.
