Jane Keirl, 85, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Barton Stone Home in Jacksonville.
She was born April 23, 1922, in Tallula, the daughter of Richard Glen and Eva Malinda Homer Potter. She married Russell A. Rass Keirl on Nov. 21, 1940, in Bowling Green, Mo., and he preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1996.
She is survived by one son, Russell C. (wife, Carole) Keirl of Decatur; one daughter, Linda Ferris of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Scott Keirl of St. Louis, Mo., Lisa Swisher (fiancé, Ron Peterson) of Jacksonville, Doug (wife, Tracey) Keirl of Decatur and Polly (husband, Bob) Mowry of Ashland; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Georgia Sinclair of Tallula. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Potter and Robert Potter; and one sister, Ora Hamilton.
Mrs. Keirl retired after being a cook for Jacksonville School District #117 at Turner Junior High School and then Armstrong Junior High School. She was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and was a member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She enjoyed gardening, garage sales, and watching sports on television, especially golf and Tiger Woods.
