A girl with a mind, a woman with attitude, and a lady with class. Jane Creran (nee Halliwell) was clothed in strength and dignity walking through her 97 years by faith, not by sight. Mrs. Creran was a working mother, fiercely independent and fancy… but not loud. She loved a good restaurant, a good book, and the Philadelphia “Iggles”. But she never watched a game. One day, we will know how lucky we all were to have known her love with wonder, not grief. On a beautiful spring April morning, Mrs. Creran came to rest in her favorite chair and fell asleep forever. Watch the sunset and tell me again how the end can’t be beautiful.

Mrs. Creran was born in the cradle of liberty, Philadelphia, PA, and graduated from Kensington High School For Girls, class of 1942. She spent her formative years in the city of brotherly love and had lived in Mt. Ephraim, after she was married, before moving to Oaklyn in 1952. Early on she had worked as a bookkeeper and subsequently helped run the family business, Creran Funeral Home in Oaklyn. Over the years she worked as a travel agent and as a salesperson at Strawbridge & Clothier. Mrs. Creran held her faith dear. She had been a longtime congregant of the Oaklyn Baptist Church and had been a member of the American Baptist Women’s Ministries. Mrs. Creran was a member of the Oaklyn Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 253 where she served as Secretary for 10 years and as Worthy Matron between 1973 and 1976. Mrs. Creran held the position of Worthy District Deputy, which had her traveling all over the state to different Temples. She also served her community as President of the Oaklyn Parent Teacher Association and as Corresponding Secretary of the Collingswood Parent-Teacher Association. Jane was a charter member and volunteered her time as; President of the Oaklyn Lions Auxiliary and President of the Welcome Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary. In her later years, Jane planned her day around lunch. She enjoyed water aerobics, taking in a good movie and working on her tan scraping the boat ramp and weeding the stones at her bayside home in Manahawkin. We will dance to her memories with joy in our hearts.

Mrs. Creran is the widower of the late Howard W. Creran, Sr., and is survived by her children Judi & her husband Sam Brick and Howard W. Creran, Jr. (Beth). She is the proud “Me-Me” of Michelle, Samuel (CariAnn), Kiersten (Casey), Timothy (Katie), Emily (Tom), Katherine (Dan), and great “Me-Me” of Quinn, Shelby, Ryan, Brady, Hazel, Timmy, and Shea. Mrs. Creran was predeceased by her brothers; James and David Donahue.
