Jane Eloise Reedy Carlisle was born to Hubert and Mary Jessie Reedy on February 26, 1929. She had gray, green eyes and was full of energy. She grew up in Prairie Lea, Texas, and graduated from Prairie Lea High School in 1947. She was a member of the Prairie Lea Baptist Church. Jane married Roy Carlisle Sr. on November 26, 1947.

They went to Three Rivers, Texas to be married by Rev. L.C. Sansom, and were married for 68 years. She completed her education earning a Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in Education. She went on to teach Kindergarten and later 5th grade at Travis Elementary in San Marcos, Texas. She left teaching to care for her mother, Mary Jessie, who was diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimers. When it became necessary to put her into a nursing home, Jane returned to school to get a degree in Nursing Home Administration, so she could work in the home where her mother was living.

She worked there until her mother’s passing, then for an additional 2 years, helping to open the 2nd facility. Jane then moved to Anchorage and returned to education, homeschooling her granddaughter, Kristin. She and Roy Sr. resided in Anchorage for approximately 22 years, before returning to their home in Prairie Lea, Texas. Jane’s family lovingly called her Mimi. One of her passions was her 9 pet miniature goats, 3 outside cats, and her rescue dog, Abby. She enjoyed her continuing lifelong friendship with Margie Beyer and Jodie Churchill as well as many friends in the Prairie Lea area. She took great joy decorating her front porch for all the holidays, Halloween being her favorite.

She and Roy Sr. enjoyed frequent visits to Anchorage, as well as when the family would visit them in Texas. After Roy Sr.s passing in January of 2016, Mimi moved back to Anchorage in the summer to be with her family. Mimi is survived by her sons Roy Jr. (Sonny), Steven, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandchildren Kristin, Steve Jr., and Jessie. Also survived by her sister, Madelon Smith of Grand Prairie, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Sr., and her brother, Burnice Turner.
