  • Date Of Death: March 4, 2022

Jane “Carol” Galloway Stonecipher, 87, passed away on March 4, 2022, after suffering from dementia for many years.  Carol was born in Birmingham, AL where she graduated from West End High School and then received her Associate degree from Birmingham Southern College and University of Alabama.

After marrying Charles N. Stonecipher (married for 55 years), they moved to Miami, FL, and then on to Springfield, VA where she spent most of her adult life as a devoted wife and mother.  Carol had a “survival” spirit and overcame many health adversities throughout her life, while retaining a positive mindset.  She was a ferocious reader of romance and history novels; and loved watching crime shows with her husband, “Nat”.  You had to be on your best behavior, so that she wouldn’t “call” the FBI on you!  Having grown up in the south she loved iced sweet tea or hot tea with sugar and lemon, and of course a bowl of ice cream.  Known to be thrifty and a “penny pincher”, she never hesitated in sacrificing for family and friends.  She refused to spend money on herself, so that others wouldn’t have to go without.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben Floyd and Mae Galloway, eight of her siblings, as well as her husband, Charles.  She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Doug Lacy) Stonecipher; grandchildren, Sean, and Kristen (Ryan); and great grandchildren, Lacy and Jack.

Her family will miss her sweet smile, advice, unwavering support, and love!  Her memory will live on in our hearts.
