Jan Sterling, age 63, of Birmingham passed away on July 4, 2017. She taught at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School for 28 years and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, A.D. Valentine. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gordon Sterling; her mother, Myrtle Valentine; her children, Jacob Sterling (Brandi) and Cathryn Sterling Buse (Kyle); her grandchildren, Eva and Miles Sterling and Connor and Luke Buse; her brothers, Dennis Valentine (Amy) and Butch Valentine (Judy); and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
