Jan Salamucha, 62, of Wethersfield, loving father, grandfather, and devoted husband of Bozena (Kacprzyk) Salamucha, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2016 while surrounded by his loving family. He fought heroically in his battle against cancer, and had never once let the cruel circumstances of his 10-month illness dampen his positive spirit. Born on December 12, 1953 in Ostroleka, Poland, he was a son of the late Zygmunt and Wladyslawa (Denkiewicz) Salamucha. Growing up on the family farm, Jan quickly learned the value of a hard-working and humble life. His caring nature radiated through all of his relationships, including that with his wife. Jan and his wife, Bozena married in 1982, had three children, and built their own home in Poland together. Jan and his wife eventually immigrated to the U.S. with their children in 2005 where Jan worked at Jarosz Welding. He was a religious man, and faithfully belonged to Catholic Churches throughout his life. Jan was happiest when he was in nature. He was often found fishing by the lake, picking mushrooms, or working in the garden. Likewise, he greatly admired horses. Jan also had a passion for food, and always looked forward to the Sunday morning pancakes. Similarly, Jan had an immense passion for music, dancing, and playing the accordion. He was an avid soccer fan, and enjoyed watching boxing matches and cowboy movies. Jan truly had an incredibly big heart and always went out of his way for others without ever expecting anything in return. His mischievous sense of humor, witty comebacks, and sarcastic remarks allowed him to make friends wherever he went. Most of all, Jan cherished his family and shared a love with his wife Bozena that we all aspire to have. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bozena; his daughters Gabriela and Ilona; his son Dawid and his wife, Paulina; his two precious grandsons Dominik and Jakub; his sister, Jadwiga Jakubiak and brothers: Jozef and Tadeusz Salamucha and several nieces and nephews both in the United States and Poland. He was predeceased by his parents: Zygmunt and Wladyslawa (Denkiewicz) Salamucha, his brother, Mieczyslaw Salamucha, and his sisters Krystyna, Barbara, and Hanna Salamucha. He will be missed by all who knew his unwavering love and support.
