Jan E. Klosek, 73, of Plainville, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was the beloved husband for 41 years to Mary (Merchel) Klosek.

Jan was born in Poland on September 14, 1943, son to the late Alojay and Klara (Zimny) Klosek. He had a profound love for the sport of soccer and played professionally for many years, both in Poland and the United States. In Poland, he was involved with several professional soccer organizations including KS Unia Rociborz, KS Row Rybnik, GKS Jastrzebie Zdroj, and KS Gornik Pszow. In addition, in the United States he played professionally for the Wildcats, Yankees, and Falcons. He enjoyed passing on the love for sports and attending his children’s sports events.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, Mary, Jan is survived by his daughters: Joanna Brown and her husband, Ronald, Tina Nichols and her husband, Richard Jr., and Izabella Stisch; his grandson, Trey Nichols; his mother-in-law, Zofia Merchel; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Helena Merchel, and their son, Gregory Merchel and his wife, Sara; his niece, Ewa Sedrowska and her son, Lukasz Wlodarczyk; his fury companions, Max and Palmer; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family in Poland. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Susanna Stisch, his brother, Walenty Klosek, his sister, Urszula Wiewiorka, and his father-in-law, Wladyslaw Merchel.
