James (Jim) William Archibald, 68, passed away January 11, 2016 after a three year battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born June 17, 1947 to the late Arthur and Ruth (Roche) Archibald. He grew up in Eastport, Maine and attended the University of Maine at Machias.

He married his college sweetheart, Aline (Bisson) Archibald, on February 21, 1970 in Brunswick Maine. Jim was drafted into the Army in 1970 and spent twenty-eight years as a Military Intelligence Agent. He achieved the rank of Sergeant Major before being honorably discharged in 1996. Jim and his wife enjoyed military assignments which sent them to the Netherlands, Colorado, Maryland, California and Belgium. During his time in Belgium, Jim really loved visiting WWll sights and making friends with the local people. He loved music from the 1950’s and going to dances with his wife Aline. It was not uncommon for Aline to get a tap on her shoulder so someone else could dance with him and he would gladly oblige them. Jim also enjoyed his 1966 Mustang Coupe and he could be found at many car shows winning many trophies for his car.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Aline Archibald, of Newnan, Georgia; daughter Amy Hittle and her husband Patrick, of Stafford, Virginia; daughter Amanda Owenby and her husband Thomas, of Newnan, Georgia. He was so proud of his two girls. He is survived by three grandsons: Eric, Alex and Evan and two granddaughters: Elizabeth and Laura. He is also survived by his brother John Archibald and wife Linda of South Portland, Maine and sister Mary Strnad and husband Ludek of Yarmouth, Maine and a host of numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wants to acknowledge and thank the wonderful workers at Affinis Hospice and Ashley Glen Assisted Living for the wonderful care and love given to Jim from March 2015 until his passing.
