James Wayne “Fred” Frederick, Sr, age 79, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Patricia Gail “Pat” Frederick; parents, Orbin and Bernice Frederick, brother, Hugh L. Frederick.

Mr. Frederick is survived by his sons, James Frederick, Jr., and wife, Marie of Fort Payne, AL, Michael Frederick and wife Missy of Framingham, MA; grandchildren, Jake Frederick of Greenville, SC, Amy and Winston Pearson of Buford, GA, Brooke and Nick Parrish of Alto, GA, Dylan and Macey Nicholson of Cleveland, GA, Mariah and Seth Williams of Mt. Airy, GA; sister-in-law, Azilee Frederick of Seymour, TN; brothers-in-law, Roger (Shelia) Tudor of Gadsden, AL, and Steve (Chris) Tudor of Brentwood, TN.

Mr. Frederick was born in Marion County, AL.

He graduated from Winfield High School in Winfield, AL. Then he received a Biology/History degree from Florence State College and a Master’s degree in Administration from the University of Georgia. Mr. Frederick taught science at Lumpkin County High School before moving to Gwinnett County to teach and coach at Lilburn School and Berkmar High School. He was the first full-time assistant principal at North Gwinnett High School, and then became the principal at Harmony Elementary where he retired after twenty-one years.

Mr. Frederick was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church. He was founder and president of the NGOFC, a retired group of men from North Gwinnett High School, who met weekly at his home. Mr. Frederick was an avid sports fan, with a passion for Auburn University, University of Georgia, North Gwinnett High School, Atlanta Braves, and Gwinnett Stripers. He was a beloved husband, Dad, Poppy, Uncle Wayne, Fred, and Mr. Frederick, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
