James W. “Jim” Stanley went to be in peace with his dearly missed family on September 26, 2011.
He was born February 6, 1952 in Bluefield, West Virginia to James K. Stanley and Evelyn E. Hubbard.
Jim enjoyed many things, such as bowling, billiards and trains. He was a true Bears and Cubs fan and, for fun, would bet his friend and neighbor, Bill, a quarter a game. He was a Beatles fan and even gave his vocals a shot playing Beatles Rock Band here he found he wasn’t as good as he’d hoped. He enjoyed riding his bicycle with his granddaughter. Scrabble and Monopoly were favorites with him. Playing many games with his daughter and friends and always winning. You could always find Jim playing cards with his friend and neighbor, Anthony on Friday nights. Jim never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a 1970 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and served as an MP in the Army from 1974-1977.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; “Papaw” Charlie A. Hubbard, “Mamaw” Ida Mae Crawford, and a very special and dear uncle, Harrold Hubbard.
He is survived by three daughters, Lesley J. Stanley, Beth R. Bedford and Cindy L. Schmidt all of Terre Haute; a very special granddaughter, Olivia J. Daugherty. Jim is also survived by a sister, Deborah (Stanley) Scott and her husband Paul Scott, Jr.; step-father, Michael Rouse; two neices, Amy (Scott) Lindsay and her husband, Brent Lindsay and Krissy (Scott) Myers and her husband, Billy Myers; nephew, Paul “PJ” Scott III. Great nieces, Macie Matherly, Preslee and Sophie Lindsay; great nephew, Jordan Scott. He is also survived by special cousins, Dennis Hubbard and Randy Sparks. Jim will be missed by many friends, family and neighbors.
