James “Jay” Thomas Guinan, Sr. Bozrah, CT – James “Jay” Thomas Guinan, Sr., 71, of Route 163 died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born in Norwich on November 21, 1940 son of the late Thomas and Dorothy May (Pearson) Guinan. On August 20, 1960 he was united in marriage to MaryAnn Nye. Mrs. Guinan survives her beloved husband of 51 years. Jay worked for Electric Boat Co. as a machinist for 20 years and later worked construction retiring in 2001. Among the many activities that Jay loved was walking, woodworking, the casinos, washing his car, being outside in the sun and feeding the animals that were lucky enough to find his yard. Mr. Guinan was predeceased by his parents, very recently his mother on Jan. 16th, a brother Thomas Vaughn Guinan, sister Beverly Ann Guinan, sister Kathleen Cotton and a nephew James Brautigam, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife MaryAnn, his children and their spouses, Beverly and Randell Ayers of Arlington, TX, James T. and Crissia Guinan, Jr. of Bozrah, David and Kristie Guinan of San Diego, CA, his sister and brother in law Dottie and James Brautigam of Norwich, 7 Grandchildren, Tiffany LaFlash, Jayme Osborne, Lindsey Lytle, Hannah Ayers, Kevin Guinan, Tyler Guinan and Ashley Guinan, 3 Great Grandchildren, Colton LaFlash, Jenna Osborne, Brynlee Lytle and 2 more on the way, a brother in law, James Cotton and numerous nieces and nephews. The family of Jay wishes to thank the ICU and CICU staff and doctors at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford and also the staff at Greentree Manor in Waterford for the care of his recently passed mother.
