James (Jim) Clayton Taylor passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the age of 81. Since 2006, he had had multiple heart attacks and strokes and fought the good battle. Jim and his wife Marion played much golf and tennis and traveled extensively before her death in 2005. Jim obtained dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada as of 1990 – of which he was extremely proud. Jim served in the Canadian Army and when discharged, went to work for Clare Nabors of Nabors Drilling Contractors in the Canadian Arctic. In 1963, Jim was sent to Alaska with a Nabors rig to drill in the Naval Reserve in the Alaskan Arctic. Jim was made manager of the Nabors company in Alaska and then became President of Nabors Alaska Drilling – the largest drilling contractor in Alaska. He and his wife retired to Arizona in 1993. While president of Nabors Alaska Drilling, Jim once drew up a contract on a napkin – the way things were sometimes done in the ole days. He earned the respect and loyalty of everyone that worked for him or did business with him and he will be sorely missed by all that knew him for the honest, kind man that he was. Rest in Peace, Jim, you earned it.
