James T. Smith of Whiteland, 77, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at St Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born September 6, 1937, to Fred and Lois (Bunch) Smith in Russell Springs, KY.
James worked at Walmart in the lawn and garden department and worked at Greenlawn Cemetery for 12 years. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers, gardening, Kentucky Wild Cats, NASCAR racing, mushroom hunting, bluegrass, country music, and his 1977 Chevy 2500 truck.
He is survived by his wife Lucy (Latham) Smith of Whiteland, 7 children: Jeffrey (Brenda) Smith, of Trafalgar, Debra Allen, Indianapolis, Stephen (Kimberly) Smith, New Whiteland, Richie (Julie) Smith, Franklin, Lisa Rowe, Trafalgar, Tonya Dulworth, Columbus, Trina Hall, Franklin. He is also survived by a sister, Mildred White, Hagerstown, 4 brothers, Carl (Irene) Smith, Indpls, Robert (Sharon) Smith, Syracuse, David (Patty) Smith, Knightstown, Allen Smith, Carthage. 15 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and a grandchild.
