James T.  Malaney, age 23, of Milford, beloved son of James and Karen Francik Malaney of Milford, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Friday, January 1, 2010.

 

 Jimmy was born on June 27, 1986, to his loving parents James and Karen Malaney. Jimmy was the Salutatorian for Foran High School Class of 2004. He then went on to UConn where he received his Bachelors of Science in the School of Pharmacy, having graduated in the top of his class in 2008. Jim was to receive his Doctorate in Pharmacology in May 2010. In addition to his intellectual achievements, he gave back to his community through work with the Veterans at the VA Hospital and children at the pediatric psychiatry unit at Yale Hospital. An avid outdoorsmen, he loved fishing with his father , any kind of physical fitness especially his days of running cross-country track with the Foran High Track Team and kayaking with his friends. The humor and courage he maintained during his almost two year battle with cancer was a testament to his strength and spirit.  Above all, he will be remembered for his modesty and kindness. He had a gentle presence that comforted those around him whether they were friends or strangers.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his loving sister and brother Geri L. Malaney and   Matthew J.  Malaney both of Milford, maternal grandparents Gerald and Joan Francik of Stratford, maternal great-grandmother Helen Klein, special aunt and godmother Sandi Boback of Fairfield and special godfather Edward Malaney of Hazeltown, PA. Jimmy is also survived by his aunts and uncles Andrew Malaney, Andrea Bereza, Tara Hylinski ,David Malaney and David Boback,  many cousins and friends especially Anthony, Noah, Mike, Jorge, Zack and Tanner. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Andrew and Margaret Malaney.
