James Weldon Stone, 92, of Franklin, passed away on March 31, 2017 at Christina Place in Franklin.
James was born on July 28, 1924 in Morrow, Ohio to Muncie B. and Creca (Graham) Stone.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He married Nellie Grace Rowlett on Feb. 15, 1949 in Crown Point, Indiana. They were married for 68 years.
James was a steelworker for U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana for 38 years; retiring in 1986.
He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a member of the Franklin American Legion Post 205.
James is survived by his wife, Nellie Grace Stone of Franklin, three children, James W. (Christine) Stone Jr. of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Patricia Ann (Ed) Elking of St. Louis, Missouri and Philip (Ines) Stone of Hialeah, Florida; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Muncie and Creca Stone, a grandson and a great-grandson.
