The son of the late Walter H. and Marye Ford Darter, James was born November 19, 1955 in Ardmore and passed away October 12, 2021.
James graduated from Plainview High School, and received his Associates Degree from Murray State College. He owned and operated Big D Oilfield Service for many years, and later went into construction. He worked as a general contractor for Ferral Howard Construction. He also worked for Ellis Moving and Storage. James was a handyman, and a jack of all trades. He would help anyone who needed it. James was of the Baptist faith.
James is survived by his sister Juanella Darter of Ardmore, and his nieces and nephews, who were like his own kids, Randy Hamilton and wife Christine; Robert Parker and wife Bri; Tonya Ellis and husband Tommy; and Denisa Baker; along with numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ancel, Jack, Bill, Clyde and two infant brothers, and sisters, Betty Lou Brown and Carmel Darter.
Honorary bearers will be Randy Hamilton, Rob Parker, Bob Chaney, Larry Darter, Harold Brown and Ken Brown.
