James Stanage, 83, of Three Oaks, Michigan, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Michigan. James was born October 20, 1924 in Three Oaks to James and Merle (O’Donald) Stanage.

After graduation from Three Oaks High School, James served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. On September 13, 1945, James married Dorlene Horner in Three Oaks, where they raised their family of four children. James was a proud member of the Randall Couchman American Legion Post #204, Three Oaks, the Three Oaks F. and A.M. Lodge #239, the Eastern Star Lodge #209, and a lifetime member of the VFW in Rolling Prairie, Indiana.

In his retirement, James loved being outdoors doing gardening work and occasionally taking in a round of golf. Survivors include his wife Dorlene; children, Sandra (Thomas) Porter of Columbia, TN, Terry (Linda) Stanage of Sawyer, Victoria (Frederick) Heiss of Three Oaks, and Stacey (Paul Michael) Pocevich of Lombard, IL.; nine grandchildren; six great grand children; brother Edmund Stanage of Three Oaks; half brothers, Richard Stanage of Three Oaks and Rex Allen Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL.; and half sister, Barbara Allen of Ormond Beach. James was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Klute.
