James F. Simonis, 83, of Rudolph, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at the University Hospital in Madison.
Jim was born on April 18, 1934, in Rosholt, to the late George and Anna Simonis. He had served in the U.S. Army. His first marriage ended in divorce.
He had owned & operated Skmo’s Place tavern in Rudolph for 45 years. His interests included riding his motorcycle, working with heavy equipment, hunting, spending time in the woods and playing pool. He was a member (and former officer) of the Wood County Tavern League, Rudolph Lions Club and a former member of Only the Lonely Motorcycle Club.
Survivors include his sisters, Marie Rucker, Isabel (Don) Bellinger, Jeannie and Edna Suchon; brothers, George, Donnie (Janet) and LeRoy (Darlene); his longtime, loving companion, Patricia Johnson, and her family: sons, Scott (Mary) Johnson, and Timothy Johnson; grandsons, Derek Bruley, and Zach, Jared, Jacob, Nicolas and Riley Johnson. He is further survived by many relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret, Bernice and Barbara; and brother, Dickie.
The family thanks the staff at UW Hospital for their loving care of Jim.
