James S Carver, age 67, of Edgewater, Florida, died Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at AdventHealth Hospital in New Smyrna Beach.
Jim was born in Fort Myers to James Clayton Carver and Jo Ann Hull Carver but raised in New Smyrna Beach, which he always considered his home.
Jim had a fulfilling career as a writer and creative director in Florida and the Carolines after graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in advertising. Wherever he went he talked about the idyllic life he had growing up in New Smyrna with his siblings, cousins and friends—surfing, lifeguarding and generally causing mischief – “We thumbed everywhere.”. He loved writing and making people laugh. He was the best father and Grandpappy anyone could ever imagine.
He is survived by Colleen, his wife of 41 years, his children Clayton (Chelsey) Carver, Sarah (Chad Tomberlin) Carver, brother Curt (Cindy) Carver, sister Ann (Steve) Carver Gunter, grandchildren Franklin, Derek and Anastasia Carver, mom Jo Ann Hegenwald, aunt Suzann (Stan) Gunter, aunt Mary Norton (his second mother) and cousins John, Joanne, Fred, Mary Ann, Jennifer and Gregory. Jim was preceded in death by his dad Dr. James C. Carver and Honeydew Magnolia.
