James Roy Coate, Sr., age 81, a native and resident of Coffeeville, AL, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Coate was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired from Roadway Truck Lines after many years of service and was a life member of the Team Union for over 35 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Irby and Onie Coate and four brothers, Cecil, George, Robert, and Benny Coate. He is survived by four sons, James Roy (Patricia) Coate, Jr., Dennis Waren (Stacy) Coate, Terry Michael (Trajetta) Coate, and David Lee (Virginia) Coate; five sisters, Mrytie Fountain, Jeanette (Robert) Williamson, Effie Mae Byrd, Anna Golf, Judy Autry; twelve grandchildren, Lynn Bell, Jennifer Coate Pierce, Ashley Coate Callahan, Drew Coate, Chase Coate, Lindsy Neal, Caleb Neal, Reva Shea Coate, Travis Michael (Haily) Coate, Garrett Jellison, Avery Jellison, and Bryant Hartzell; three great granddaughter, Karley Alexis Beach,Logan Pierce, and Peighton Pierce, a special nephew, Louis (Maxie) Byrd and special friends Brant Woodard and the Larry Tyson family. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
