James R. Mott, 78 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Homestead House in Beatrice. He was born on March 17, 1939 in Falls City to Emil and Ruby (Sunleaf) Mott. James moved to Beatrice as an infant until 6th grade before moving to York and then back to Beatrice attending schools in both towns. He married Joan Menke on April 12, 1957 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice. James worked for Wonderbread for a total of 28 years working in both California and Fairbury. He then worked for over 16 years at the Endicott Clay Brickyard in Endicott. James was a member of the Ellis United Methodist Church in Ellis and enjoyed camping, gardening, yardwork, fishing and birdwatching.

James is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Sullivan and husband Joe of Fruitland, Maryland; son, James Mott and wife Ann of Cortland; grandchildren, Chris Sami, Saum Sami, Sarah Sullivan, Katie Mancuso and husband Anthony, Kevin Mott; great-grandchildren, Asher Carey, Oliver Mancuso, Caleb Mancuso; brother, Emil “Butch” Mott and wife Marian of Florence, Oregon; half-brother, Lyle Stevens and wife Bonnie of Beatrice; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; brother, Jay Mott; and half-brother, Jerry May.
