Bishop James R. Ricks, Sr. (J.I.) of Trinity, NC made his earthly transition to heaven on November 29, 2011.
He was born in High Point, NC on September 22, 1931 to Jesse and Sophia Ricks. Loved ones who preceded him in death are his father, mother, daughter, and four sisters.
James Ricks was raised and educated in High Point, NC. He was a Master Brick/Rock Contractor for 45 years. His work can be seen all over North Carolina and in many other states. His motto was “I’m not the best brick layer in the world, but ain’t none no better.” Bishop Ricks was also a Pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy for 55 years. He was truly an icon.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory are his devoted wife JoAnne Ricks, of the home; eight sons, Minister James R. Ricks, Jr. (Phyllis) of Trinity, NC; Dworn Ricks of Kernesville, NC; Ronald Ricks, Sr. (Florinda) of Beverly Hills, CA; Pastor Rex A. Ricks, Sr. (Tracy) of Fayetteville, GA; Joseph Ricks of High Point, NC; Eric Ricks & Ivan Ricks of Trinity, NC; Ryan Ricks of the home; three daughters, Sheba Ricks of Archdale, NC; Tonya Ricks of Trinity, NC; Shannon Ricks of the home; thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a special nephew, Maurice Cobb (Shepel) of High Point, NC, three sisters, Mary Phillips, Springfield, MD, Dr. Jeanie Jones, Decatur, GA and Donnie Ricks, Archdale, NC; mother-in-law, Arebella Williams, Robbins, NC; five sister-in-laws, two brother-in-laws, and a host of other relatives and friends.
