James “Jim” Robert Meyer, 75, of Newnan, Georgia passed away December 6, 2021 at home while surrounded by his loving family. Jim’s passing marks the end of a six year journey with cancer. Jim was born June 28, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan to Robert Meyer and Verna (Pickelmann) Meyer. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1964. He completed his undergraduate degree at Western Michigan University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He later returned to WMU for graduate school and earned his MBA in 1982. Jim spent his career in quality systems management in the paperboard packaging industry. His work with James River Corporation brought him and his family to Georgia in 1993. He retired from Amcor Packaging in 2013. Jim enjoyed listening to music and reading, but most notably loved the outdoors. He was at home hiking in the mountains, but the ocean was his favorite place to visit. He could otherwise be found relaxing in his backyard, cheering on the Detroit Lions, or playing golf. Jim was often accompanied by one the several dogs he had over the years. Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Howard, daughter Erin Meyer, son Dan Meyer, and sister Patti (Meyer) Finlay, along with numerous extended family members including seven nieces and nephews.
